BF6 Players Agree: Challenges Are Way Too Hard
The release of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 received significant enthusiasm, especially for its top-tier multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, live player figures peaked at nearly 750,000. Yet, regardless of its fanfare, a growing number of players are expressing frustration over several of the title's most difficult challenges, which are mandatory to unlock specific weapons.
Gamers have begun using tailored sessions set up using the custom game tool to complete them, underscoring just how arduous these challenges have become.
Grasping BF6 Tasks
Tasks represent Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, different from the frequently updated everyday and weekly missions. It features four types of assignments, but although many only reward outfits and select equipment, completing the weapon assignments is the only way of acquiring twelve from the forty-one main guns available in the game.
A number of these restricted firearms might eventually earn a place on rosters of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.
Gamer Backlash across Reddit
Over on Reddit, players are justifiably expressing their worries about how challenging and repetitive a number of these challenges are. An individual player pointed out one of the most outrageous examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
- Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs
"This task is so awful and completely out of mind, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a quote that summarizes just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.
The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many advantages in battle as it used to in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.
Additionally, firing an LMG without aiming is extremely unreliable and only works at point-blank proximity, which is seldom the location you aim to be. The same user also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that task would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and conversely.
Another Overly Demanding Task
Another Reddit user brought attention to a further incredibly demanding challenge, now in the marksman rifle class to access the PSR:
- Secure 150 precision takedowns beyond 200 meters with long-range weapons
This is tough enough on its own, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at that kind of range.
There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but since there are only nine maps in the game at present, it means you're limited to playing New Sobek City, Mirak Valley, and perhaps a classic map at a push if you aim to take long-range shots from a significant distance.
The Workaround
There is a workaround though: the custom game tool. The Battlefield Portal is a system that permits you to design tailored experiences on any map you prefer, including AI opponents. This means you can cheese the system… but it isn't truly in line with the developer's vision.
But when tackling the tasks in a standard match appears to work against fun, since you must engage in such an unconventional way that harms both you and your squad, is it surprising for completing them in a custom game so teammates aren't hindered?
Future Adjustments
It won't come as a surprise if a number of these missions are made easier in the near future, because should they remain unchanged, certain gamers simply will never acquire the restricted guns.
For now, the audience continues to express their views on these challenging in-game tasks, hoping for a more balanced overall gameplay in coming revisions.
